Distant Disaster
by Kalvin Ave M. Sumagui

An eruption was only a story once told by a generation of the Sumagui family. That generation survived a past eruption of Taal Volcano in 1965, and now the 2020 eruption that was also a silent bomber.

Looking towards the direction of the volcano from a rooftop over 60km away, only a shadowy blanket of darkness could be seen. It could be distinctly identified by the lightning flashing through.
A day after the muddy rain, the drive home from Manila to Indang was a dusty rally.
